Nearby Suiattle River Recreation

The Suiattle River is just a short distance south from the campground, across the Suiattle River Road.  This wild and scenic river is considered a classic whitewater destination in the early season and a scenic float later on.  From the river one can see wildlife and wonderful eagle watching in late fall.  Several near by trails access the Glacier Peak Wilderness leading both day-hikers and backpackers toward the lofty realms, cascading creeks and dense forest lands.

Buck Creek Campground is nestled under a thick canopy of lush old growth forest and offers a primitive setting. Buck Creek, one of the largest tributaries of the Suiattle River, flows to the east of the campground.  Its presence will be heard throughout your stay as it cascades down from the mountain to the river below.  Hours can be spent just listening and observing the abundant wildlife that call Buck Creek their home.

To get to Buck Creek Campground from Darrington, drive north on SR 530 for about 7 miles, turn right onto the Suiattle River Road, FSR #26.  Drive about 16 miles, the campground will be on the left.
