Recreation Near Bedal Campground
There are several wonderful day hikes near Bedal Campground such as, North Fork Sauk Falls, Harold Engels Memorial Grove, Goat Lake /Elliott Creek, Bedal Creek and Lookout Tree. A kayak launch is located near the entrance of the campground.
Two river launches are near by, one raft launch at the Bedal Campground and a boat launch north of the campground at the confluence of the White Chuck and Sauk Rivers.
There are several popular rockhounding spots along the Sloan Creek Road and White Chuck River Confluence. Just the drive to get there is enjoyable. Pack a picnic and explore the surrounding forest roads.
The Bedal Campground is named after a very important early pioneer family that homesteaded in this area. Bedal, grew into small logging settlement, with a schoolhouse, blacksmith and a store. There was another neighboring settlement, Orient, east of where the current campground is located with the Sauk River Ranger Station to the north. The Bedal family contributed to much of the legacy of Darrington and the Sauk-Suiattle Tribe.
To get to Bedal Campground from Darrington, drive 16 miles south on the Mountain Loop Highway. The campground is located on the right side of the road, near mile post 37.
